“Proposition 1”
63 different ballot measures in Washington were called Proposition 1 in 2024. They are in 23 counties, on 1 election date, and they have nothing to do with each other. This page cannot tell you which one is yours. It can tell you how to find out in about ten seconds.
A measure number is assigned by whichever jurisdiction is asking, and almost every jurisdiction starts at one. The number is a position on a ballot, not a name for a thing.

This is not a record page. It is a list of records that happen to share a string. Nothing on this page connects any two of them, and there is no connected-records section below, because a name is not an entity. If you arrived here from a search result, the thing you were looking for is one row down.
01
All 63, side by side
All of them, always, whatever is selected above. Ordered by county name, then jurisdiction name — alphabetical, both, and never anything else. The order is mechanical and stated because any other order would be a ranking, and a ranking of measures a reader has not chosen between is an opinion. The filter narrows the cards above; it never narrows this table.

No totals row. Adding these 63 measures together — their cost, their voters, their outcomes — would produce a number describing a thing that does not exist.

02
Why we do not pick one for you
Every site that has ever guessed which local measure you meant has been wrong for somebody, and a wrong answer to a ballot question is worse than no answer. So the guess is not available — not to an editor, not to the search index, not to the software.
- Identity ladder · rung 04
- Same name only. No merge, no cross-link. The collision is handled by a disambiguation node that lists every claimant to the string and asserts nothing about any of them. Rungs 01 and 02 merge on an issued identifier or a declared alias. Rung 03 holds two records apart with a stated uncertainty. This page is what rung 04 looks like when it is rendered. How the connections work
- No edges leave this page
- Every other entity page ends with connected records. This one has none. A shared string is not a shared anything, and there is no row in the edge table that could carry it — not even at the adjacency tier, which needs two records agreeing on a field, not on a coincidence of numbering.
- The claimants are not linked to each other
- Each row links to its own page and nowhere else. There is no “see also” between two measures sharing a number, because sending a reader from the one they wanted to one they did not is the exact error this page exists to prevent.
- The page is generated, not written
- A page like this appears automatically whenever two or more measures share a proposition number inside one year, and disappears when they stop. No editor decides that a collision is interesting enough to document.
03
What this page will not compute
Every one of these would make the page feel more helpful and would occasionally send a voter to the wrong measure. Listed so their absence reads as a decision.
- No geolocation.
- We do not read your IP, your browser locale, or a stored location to guess your county. An IP address is not a street address, and it is wrong most often for exactly the rural and mobile readers hardest to serve.
- No default claimant.
- No “most people mean this one,” no redirect to the largest jurisdiction, no ordering by our own page traffic. The measure with 48,000 voters is not more real than the one with 3,100.
- No merged history.
- We do not compile “how Proposition 1 has performed over time.” Unrelated measures do not have a shared track record, and a chart of one would be the purest form of a number about nothing.
- No similarity scoring.
- Two of these may be the same kind of levy. We do not group them, tag them alike, or suggest that a reader interested in one wants the other — that is a recommendation engine, and it has no place between a voter and a ballot.

Common questions
- How many Washington ballot measures were called Proposition 1 in 2024?
- 63, in Adams, Benton, Chelan, Columbia, Cowlitz, Douglas, Franklin, Grant, King, Kitsap, Kittitas, Klickitat, Lincoln, Okanogan, Pend Oreille, Pierce, San Juan, Skagit, Snohomish, Spokane, Thurston, Walla Walla, Yakima counties, across 1 election date: November 5, 2024. They are unrelated measures placed on the ballot by 63 different local governments.
- Which Proposition 1 is on my ballot?
- At most one, and which one depends on your address rather than your county alone, because fire, library, hospital and school district boundaries cross city and county lines. Your county auditor’s ballot lookup is the only authoritative answer.
- Why do so many measures have the same number?
- Because each jurisdiction numbers its own measures and nearly all of them start at one. A city, a fire district and a school district sharing a ballot can each have a Proposition 1 on that same ballot. The number identifies a position in one jurisdiction’s list, not a measure statewide.
- Why doesn’t this site just show me the most likely one?
- Because a confident wrong answer about a ballot is more damaging than an honest list. We publish every measure carrying the name, in a stated mechanical order, and point at the record holder who can resolve it for your address.
Answers are generated from the same fields as the sections above and emitted as FAQPage structured data, so a machine reader gets the identical text a person sees.

How this page is built
Every figure above is read from a primary source and rebuilt on a schedule. Nothing here is modelled or inferred; where a source is silent the page says so rather than filling the gap.
- The label is harvested, never typed.
- Proposition numbers come off the certified results as filed with each county auditor and passed to the Secretary of State. If an auditor writes it differently, we carry their string, not a tidied version of it.
- The page exists because a count exceeded one.
- Two or more measures sharing a proposition number within one year create this page automatically; when they stop, it stops.
- Order is a rule, not a judgement.
- The complete table is fixed at county name, then jurisdiction name, both alphabetical, and is never filtered by anything a reader clicks. The cards above may be narrowed by county; the rule in force is printed next to them.
- The county filter runs in the page.
- No query is logged, no location is requested, and the filter state is not remembered between visits. Filtering to your county tells us nothing about you, by design.
- Every ambiguous label links here.
- Any measure page that must print a bare “Proposition 1” links to this page rather than resolving the string itself.
This page is the one place on the site where finding nothing is the correct outcome. If you leave it still unsure which measure is yours, it worked: the uncertainty was already there, and now you can see it.
